Manchester United interested in Archie Gray

Manchester United are reportedly looking to sign Leeds United prodigy Archie Gray

According to Spanish website Fichajes, Manchester United is the latest Premier League club to be connected with a bid for Leeds United midfielder Archie Gray after deciding not to exercise Sofyan Amrabat‘s purchase option.
Gray, only 17 years old, has quickly established himself in the Leeds first team under Daniel Farke in the first half of the season, playing as both a defensive midfielder and a right-back, and his versatility, vision, and technical skill have piqued the interest of several Premier League big guns.

Using his nimble passing and inventive skills to win defensive turnovers before swiftly moving the ball forward, he attempts to win possession in the defensive third when playing defensive midfield.
At such a young age, he can portray such a wide range of characters, which speaks to his incredibly diverse skill set. Despite his superior technical abilities, his intelligence and game reading skills are what really stand out about him.

Fichajes believe the £40 million–£50 million star is now on INEOS‘ radar after the club came to the conclusion regarding flop on-loan playmaker Sofyan Amrabat, who is currently away at the African Cup of Nations. Liverpool and Tottenham are also rumored to be keeping an eye on the English Under-19 international.

The article also states that because Sofyan Amrabat‘s loan from the team isn’t working out, the Red Devils are already organizing their plans on how to replace him this season and address their ongoing midfield issues.

The Reds have noted Gray as a possible alternative, and they are keeping a close eye on the 17-year-old. But, if the Peacocks place in the top two or win the play-offs, they won’t want to lose one of their star players to a rival team or a Premier League team because of their rivalry and Leeds United‘s possible promotion in a few months.

There are also questions about the player’s desire to move from Leeds to their bitter rivals. Like his family before him, Gray had deep connections to the club when he entered the Whites’ establishment. He is the son of former Leeds and Scotland striker Andy Gray, and his uncle Eddie Gray is considered one of the best strikers the Whites have ever had.

It’s said that Leeds is attempting to start talks to extend Gray‘s contract, which expires in 2025. This gives Gray complete control over his future. He may choose to commit to Leeds for the next phase of his development or pursue bigger and better things with a seasoned Premier League team that doesn’t often support young players.
