Manchester United are still interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the January transfer window, according to reports.
According to the Italian publication Corriere dello Sport (29 September 2023, page 17), Juventus and Atletico Madrid are also interested in signing the Dane.
Manchester United remains a fan of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jean-Emile Hojbjerg
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, a Manchester United target, was a crucial player for Tottenham under every manager until Ange Postecoglou arrived in the summer.
The Dane is no longer a regular for Spurs, having played less than 80 minutes of Premier League football since the season began last month.
When Manchester United were unable to complete a deal for Sofyan Amrabat last summer, rumours suggested that the Red Devils were interested in signing Hojbjerg.
Erik ten Hag‘s squad eventually grabbed Amrabat, but according to an Italian newspaper, the Manchester United manager still likes the Tottenham midfielder.
It has also been stated that Juventus are keen on signing him in January, as are Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid, who were in talks to sign him on deadline day until the deal fell through.
According to the source, Tottenham are not willing to loan Hojbjerg out; instead, they want to sell him for £26 million.
Hojbjerg should leave Tottenham
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is 28 years old and should be playing consistently at this point in his career.
That will not happen at Tottenham, where Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr are both ahead of him in the pecking order, and Rodrigo Bentancur, who returns from injury, will push him further lower.
A transfer away in January is best for all parties concerned, and if Hojbjerg can find a club, whether it’s Manchester United or another, we believe he should take it.
It will be intriguing to see whether Manchester United makes a January approach for Hojbjerg.
