Fabrizio Romano reports that goalkeeper Martin Dubravka has arrived at Carrington for his medical after Manchester United and Newcastle United reached an initial loan agreement.

This summer, United manager Erik ten Hag has been urgently attempting to bolster his team, and the Manchester giants have now revealed a deal to bring in Antony in a record-breaking £84 million transfer from Ajax is in place.

Before the window closes on Thursday night, ten Hag has selected a goalkeeper to challenge David De Gea as a priority. However, ten Hag is still looking for new recruits.

It is understandable that ten Hag would prefer a different goalkeeper given that the Spanish international has struggled in United’s first four games of the current campaign and that his mistake against Brentford cost them dearly.

After being rebuffed by the Slovakian international in January, Manchester United made the decision to rekindle their interest in Dubravka. The goalkeeper intended to stay at St James’ Park to continue playing regular football, but Nick Pope’s arrival has caused him to lose his spot.

The 33-year-old is currently interested in a move to Old Trafford, and Fabrizio Romano stated on Monday that Manchester United and Newcastle had reached an agreement for Dubravka to join them on a season-long loan.
In addition, the Red Devils have the option to make the transfer permanent for £5 million next summer. According to Romano, Dubravka is now at Carrington getting a physical before the transfer is finalized.

In the event that no issues arise, the goalkeeper will join Antony, Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, and Christian Eriksen as ten Hag’s sixth summer additions to Old Trafford.

Dubravka joined Newcastle from Sparta Prague in 2017 and has played in the Premier League 127 times since. However, after losing his starting spot to Pope, a Burnley transfer, Dubravka has opted to go for a new challenge.

The Slovakian will now face off against De Gea for the No. 1 jersey at Manchester United, but for the time being at least, it’s anticipated that he will serve as the backup and participate in cup games. He needs to put greater pressure on De Gea, and perhaps doing so will help the Spaniard perform better.
