Eric Dier is undergoing a medical at Bayern Munich after agreeing to terms for a permanent move from Tottenham, according to Football Insider.
Spurs have accepted a bid from the German giants for the long-serving England player, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
Bayern reportedly offered Dier an 18-month contract with a one-year option.
Last Friday morning, Football Insider exclusively disclosed that Dier had signed to terms with Bayern, which was viewed as a major surprise given that he had been frozen out by Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham this season.
However, Thomas Tuchel is confident that the 29-year-old’s versatility to play both central midfield and centre-back can help the Bundesliga winners.
Dier made only four appearances for the Lilywhites this season, and he did so only because of the club’s devastating defensive injury situation.
He has spent the bulk of his 364-match Spurs career as a defensive midfielder, particularly under Mauricio Pochettino, but has recently been employed primarily as a centre-back.
Tuchel is expected to make better use of Dier’s versatility at Bayern, and he has been told that he will play in both of his familiar roles.
According to Football Insider (6 January), former teammate Harry Kane persuaded Dier to join him in Germany, as the two were close friends throughout their time at Tottenham.
Spurs are expected to confirm the signing of Genoa centre-back Radu Dragusin as their second January addition, following Timo Werner‘s loan move from RB Leipzig for the remainder of the season.
Tottenham are fifth in the Premier League table and will face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon (14 January).
