Micky van de Ven’s contract offer at Tottenham as BBC commentator shares exit claim

Despite reports that Micky van de Ven may consider leaving Tottenham, John Wenham believes the club is in a “very strong” position.

According to the creator of the famous Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, the 23-year-old would have a difficult time securing a move away from North London.

It comes after BBC Sport commentator Garth Crooks predicted van de Ven could leave Spurs if they don’t start winning titles.

But Wenham, speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, feels the club shouldn’t be concerned.

“I assume van de Ven was only paid around £35,000 per week at Wolfsburg, and he is probably paid over £70,000 per week right now.

“That means the club is in a position to easily offer him a pay boost of roughly £150,000 per week and add further years to his contract.

“Spurs are therefore in a very strong position, and although other clubs might be interested, the ball is firmly in their court.”

Micky van de Ven is priceless to Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.

Spurs must do all is necessary to keep van de Ven.

The defender enjoyed a fantastic debut season in the Premier League, which is sure to have sparked attention from clubs throughout Europe.

With more time and experience, van de Ven will only improve, and Ange Postecoglou will be anxious to keep him.

The centre-back is invaluable to Tottenham and should be compensated appropriately.

In other Tottenham news, the club has been advised to make a £50 million approach for one Brighton player.
