Michael Owen believes Micky van de Ven will be out for’months’ following Tottenham Hotspur’s 4-1 loss to Chelsea on Monday night.
Everything had been going swimmingly for Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham Hotspur until last night.
And then everything that was going wrong went wrong, including Micky van de Ven leaving injured in the first half with a hamstring problem – Paul Merson brutally mocked Spurs after their loss to Chelsea.
Michael Owen has been in those situations numerous times during his career, and it’s most likely what killed him in the latter stages of his career.
And, as he told Premier League Productions (06/11/23 at 10:35 pm), he was’really worried’ by what he saw from Micky van de Ven‘s injury because he believes Tottenham will be without their star center-back for some time.
Spurs fans and even the player are probably aware that he will be out for some time; it’s just a matter of hoping for the best-case scenario.
Micky van de Ven was injury.
“This is the one I would be really worried about,” he replied. “I’ve had that feeling many times in my career.” It isn’t pretty. It’s not a pleasant sensation. That appears to be a serious one.
“The extent of his anguish. Sadly, I believe you are looking at months for that one.”
Tottenham’s central defenders
It didn’t help matters that Cristian Romero was sent off for a rash challenge inside the box and then gifted Chelsea a penalty.
Not only is Van de Ven out, but so is Romero, which means Spurs may have to start Eric Dier alongside Emerson Royal.
Tottenham fans’ worst nightmare had come true. They were expecting it. One injury could spell disaster.
Those wearing Spurs jerseys would not normally say this, but the sooner the international break arrives for them, the better.
