Nottingham Forest’s last-minute transfer update gives Leeds United a boost in their hunt for Neco Williams.
Leeds United are in serious need of a new full-back, with Daniel Farke eyeing at least one player in the position in January.
However, the Whites have experienced a number of blows, including the loan exits of Luke Ayling to Middlesbrough and Djed Spence, whose season-long loan with Leeds was cut short.
With injuries to the club’s remaining full-backs, Junior Firpo, Jamie Shackleton, and Sam Byram, Nottingham Forest’s Neco Williams has been linked with a move to Elland Road, according to Phil Hay.
Although the move is looking increasingly doubtful as the January transfer window approaches, particularly given Nuno Espirito Santo’s preferences, Leeds have been given a lifeline in their pursuit of the Wales international.

Williams has had a lot more playing time under Espirito Santo after being benched by Steve Cooper. However, since Cooper‘s dismissal, the 22-year-old has started two of Forest’s past six matches in all competitions.
He has also appeared as a substitute in the other four, securing vital victories over Newcastle United and Manchester United, as well as advancing to the FA Cup Fourth Round with a win over Blackpool.
Daniel Farke has seen an improvement in form from his current first-choice left-back, Firpo, but the Forest player would provide him with a new option. With 36 caps for Wales already, at the age of 22, and some great performances, there is little doubt that Williams would be a strong fit as Leeds aim for Premier League promotion.
