According to Dean Jones, Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is “heading towards that point” where his contract with the club may be terminated.
According to the journalist, who wrote on GiveMeSport, it’s “the right thing to do” because it’s “pointless” to keep him at Tottenham.
Between the end of last season and the present, Lloris‘ stock at Tottenham has plummeted considerably.
The £120,000-a-week custodian was up there with Harry Kane as a genuine Spurs legend.
He was Tottenham‘s captain and a stalwart who had been with the club for over a decade and made 444 competitive appearances.
However, in the summer, Lloris decided he wanted to leave Tottenham and said that it was the “end of an era” for him at the club.
He was kept at Tottenham with the idea that he would leave in the summer. However, this did not occur, and he is still with the Spurs, albeit not playing.
‘I believe we’re approaching that point.’
Lloris‘ Tottenham contract expires at the end of the season, and Jones believes Spurs might simply terminate it, putting an end to this uncertainty for everyone.
However, Jones admits that this is easier said than done, since conversations may last some time when both sides sit down to work out the potential pay-off.
“Lloris is heading towards that point where you wonder if they will just terminate his contract,” he went on to say. “Who knows how simple that is?”
“Obviously, paying someone out of a contract is not something you see very often in football, and for good reason, given the financial implications and complications.”
“However, for everyone’s sake, this seems pointless and the right thing to do at this time.” I believe we are approaching that point.”

You have to wonder what Lloris was thinking when he opted to call it quits at Tottenham without having anything firm in place.
Now we have a situation in which one of the club’s legends, the former captain with over a decade of service for Spurs, is a forgotten man at N17 after failing to get a move away in the summer.
When Lloris leaves Tottenham, fans will undoubtedly remember him fondly, but the situation is currently so humiliating.
Without a doubt, terminating his contract would be the wisest decision for all parties. Draw a line here, and then give him the send-off his career deserves later on.
