Nottingham Forest forward Anthony Elanga believes Sweden’s manager Jon Dahl Tomasson can help him enhance his skills.
The Dane was selected as the country’s new manager on Monday, following his departure from Blackburn Rovers earlier in the month.
Jon Dahl Tomasson played as a striker for nearly 500 games, scoring 197 goals and registering 50 assists.
Speaking to Discovery+, as reported by Fotbollskanalen, the Nottingham Forest player believes the manager’s expertise might be critical for Sweden’s attackers.
“He was a fantastic striker in his day, therefore I believe everyone in the offensive department is licking their lips since he was a great striker who won many trophies. “It will be fine,” he said.
The 21-year-old is also excited to be part of Sweden’s new era under Jon Dahl Tomasson.
“He is the first foreign national team captain with us. Working with him will be quite intriguing. It’s a new generation and an era, therefore I believe we needed something different, and it’s now here. “Hopefully, this will be the start of something big for the national team,” Elanga said.
Elanga has also witnessed management changes at Nottingham Forest. In December, Nuno Espírito Santo succeeded Steve Cooper.
The Sweden international has kept his place at Nottingham Forest under the current coach, and it remains to be seen whether he will join Jon Dahl Tomasson’s squad for this month’s international break.
Elanga has five goals and seven assists in 25 league appearances for Nottingham Forest this season.
