Neil Redfearn has picked the Leeds United player who he believes had an outstanding performance in the win over Preston North End.
Leeds earned a thrilling victory at Elland Road. Daniel Farke‘s side fell behind after only 70 seconds. However, the equaliser was not far away, with Junior Firpo setting up. Daniel James
Joel Piroe scored the winning goal from the penalty spot in stoppage time at the end of the second half.
Neil Redfearn applauds Joe Rodon after Leeds’ triumph
Joe Rodon was instrumental in Leeds’ penalty-taking success, doing everything he could to keep the attack alive. When the referee pointed to the spot, it was clear what that meant to the centre-back.
The Welshman rejoiced as if he had just hit the top corner from 35 yards.
There were more celebrations as he saw the ball go out of play as Preston attempted to equalise.
Rodon is obviously attempting to transform himself into a cult-hero. And, speaking on BBC Radio Leeds, Neil Redfearn stated that he was absolutely critical for the Whites against Preston.
“He enjoys himself. You can see how much he enjoys himself. I think his performance today was incredible since he had Ethan at his side. And we know Ethan‘s natural position is defensive central midfielder with the ability to play center back. However, due to Ethan‘s physical characteristics, they were somewhat shortchanged.
He’s not a huge centre-half to play with. And I felt he took on the responsibility today, Rodon, with great presence,” he remarked.
