All the most recent Newcastle United transfer news ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup match at Fulham.
Pierre-Émile Hojbjerg
Newcastle United have been linked with a loan deal for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who is out of favour. Under Ange Postecoglou, the Danish midfielder has fallen down the pecking order at Spurs, with Yves Bissouma rising to the occasion.
Hojbjerg had been connected with a January escape, with Italian teams Napoli and Juventus reportedly interested, but Newcastle has now been linked after missing out on Kalvin Phillips, who has joined West Ham.
The 28-year-old former Southampton and Bayern Munich player would suit the description for a ball-winning midfielder, which many believe United lacks, especially with Joelinton and Sandro Tonali out. He has 73 caps for Denmark.
Dubravka’s future
Martin Dubravka, the Newcastle United goalkeeper, is allegedly evaluating his future with the club. The 35-year-old has returned to the Magpies’ first team following Nick Pope‘s long-term injury. However, the Slovakian international understands that Pope will most likely reclaim his place once he is ready, putting Dubravka on the bench.
He spent six months on loan at Manchester United last season before returning to Newcastle a year ago. He has impressed since returning to the team, but Pope is the first choice, and Dubravka understands that he will need to move on to continue playing frequently.
