Real Betis president Angel Haro has stated that his club is not interested in signing Leeds United midfielder Junior Firpo, despite reports that Betis is interested in signing him and that Firpo is eager to move.
After missing preseason and every match until his return to the bench against Leicester, the 27-year-old is back on the pitch. Then he came on as a substitute against Plymouth before starting the draw against Rotherham.
According to Foot Mercato, Firpo is a target for Betis, who are considering a loan-to-buy deal for the left-back. Firpo is also said to want to leave Leeds, with Betis’ left-back Juan Miranda a target for Milan.
Firpo, of course, played for Betis before moving to Barcelona and then to Leeds. Marc Roca is currently on loan at Betis, so there is a link there. However, Haro claims Firpo is a player Betis adores.
Despite liking Firpo, the Betis president, who has seen Roca’s side shine in both La Liga and the Europa League this season under Manuel Pellegrini, says he is not a target on a short list.
“The list is short, and I’ve never seen that name before.” He’s a player we like a lot, a Betic youth player, but I’ve already said he’s not on the table,” Haro said, as quoted by Spanish website Infobae.

It’s a setback. Everyone would love to see Betis sign our £13 million man. Leeds would save money on his wages, while Betis would gain a replacement for Miranda as well as a player who is familiar with the Spanish league.
Firpo would be transferred to a team where he excelled, back in Spain with a European club. What happens in January will be interesting to watch. Firpo has stated that he has turned down offers.
