Evangelos Marinakis, the owner of Nottingham Forest, regards Marco Silva as a prospective replacement for Steve Cooper.
As Cooper walked further down the plank, the 47-year-old manager supervised a 5-0 win over the Reds last night. The current head coach’s position at the City Ground appears to be untenable, and a change may be on the horizon. Cooper has overseen Forest since September 2021. He took over as manager while the team was at the bottom of the Championship and managed their promotion to the Premier League.
Marinakis supports Silva‘s Forest Plan Change. If Forest can entice Silva away from Fulham, it will not be the first time he has worked for Marinakis.
He spent the 2015/16 season with Olympiacos, where he won the Super League title.
Silva managed 38 victories in 48 games, and Marinakis clearly admires the Portuguese manager.
According to the Daily Mail, if Cooper is fired, Forest will explore hiring Silva as their new head coach.
Silva has previously managed Hull City, Watford, and Everton in the Premier League before taking over at Fulham in July 2021 following their relegation to the Championship.
He’s been in charge of the Cottagers for 112 games and has guided them to 54 victories, including a 10th-place finish last season.
The forest owner admires the boss, but obtaining him will be difficult.
Forest may want to take a chance on Silva, but convincing him to leave a very secure job at Fulham may be difficult. Furthermore, he has just witnessed the situation that Forest is in, and he may not want to restore the players’ trust. Silva would be an especially good choice. He’s a good age for a head coach, and he has lots of Premier League experience. Whoever replaces Cooper must swiftly get the support of the supporters. Stuart Pearce thanked the Forest fans last night for their support of the present coach. However, results must be obtained immediately. Forest have slipped 11 points from winning positions and are now fighting for relegation.
Silva might be tempted to work with Marinakis again at Forest, but it won’t be an easy conversation. The Portuguese manager may regard Fulham as a project he simply cannot abandon, forcing Forest to start from scratch.
