Super Eagles stars Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi featured for Nottingham Forest as they defeated Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 at the City Ground.
Nottingham Forest returned to Premier League action with a fixture against Tottenham at home. The Tricky Trees have been excellent this season, grabbing the scalps of Manchester United and Aston Villa recently, and they were looking to maintain their success.
Super Eagles defender Aina preserved his position on rhe starting XI, while Awoniyi started from the bench. Tottenham started the game on the front foot, with Mats Selz making some crucial saves in the first 25 minutes.
However, Nottingham Forest got a huge opportunity in the 28th minute, which they took. Swedish talent Anthony Elanga opened the scoring with a shot from inside the box.
Tottenham made numerous attempts to equalize but were unsuccessful. In the second half, Nottingham Forest stood firm and prevented Tottenham from obtaining good looks at goal. Aina, a Super Eagles standout, performed admirably at right back, recording three clearances and one tackle. Despite facing lightning-fast Brennan Johnson, he was only dribbled past once.
Awoniyi was introduced into the game in the 87th minute, and he had an opportunity just a minute later, but his effort went wide.
Nottingham Forest had an easy finish to the game after Djed Spence was sent off in stoppage time. It ended 1-0 for the Tricky Trees, who won their tenth game of the season.
