Nuno Espirito Santo has told his Nottingham Forest players that Chelsea are ‘far more’ than just Cole Palmer before of their Premier League duel at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Nuno Espirito Santo has made it clear that Nottingham Forest’s strategy against Chelsea would not be limited to playing with the form of Cole Palmer. After Palmer’s incredible performance, which saw him score every goal in Chelsea’s 4-2 victory against Brighton, Forest is getting ready for a tough match at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. With six Premier League goals thus far, Palmer is second only to Erling Haaland, the sensational striker for Manchester City. “We cannot ignore him (Palmer), but the game plan is not based on one player,” Forest boss Nuno stated in reference to the forthcoming clash.
“Chelsea’s roster is full of talented players, but Chelsea is much more than just a collection of stars. It’s all about
making room for the gifted players because they understand football very well and how to establish possession.”
The crucial elements, according to Forest, are tactical organization and team cohesion:
“For us, it’s always about the team, the spaces, and organization. We are making progress if we can stop the skilled players from placing the balls in the appropriate spots.
Prior to the match, the Forest manager reiterated his strategic focus by declaring, “I insist that I spoke with the team about Chelsea; this is what we have to focus on.”
The availability of Morgan Gibbs-White again provides Forest with encouragement. He missed the 1-0 loss to Fulham because of a suspension he received for receiving a red card in a 2-2 draw at Brighton. The important midfielder could play a key role in Lee Carsley’s England team for their forthcoming Nations League matches against Greece and Finland. He was just included in the squad.
Regarding Gibbs-White, Nuno said:
“He’s a very special player for us, so it’s great to have him back.” The squad looks to him for production
because of his talent. It’s nice to have him back, and I’m glad he was summoned to England once more.”
Among the teams who have allowed fewer goals than Forest in the first six league games of the season is just Liverpool. Nuno said:
“Finding the balance and what works in both boxes is the big issue in football, as Forest has only managed to score six goals.
” Even if we are creating a lot, we ought to be more methodical. We will get better, in my opinion.”
