Odel Offiah has another health scare, forcing the Hearts’ on-loan Brighton defender to miss the Rangers tie.

According to medical personnel, the player is fine, and he attended Hampden Park on Sunday.

Odel Offiah, a defender for Hearts, missed Sunday’s Viaplay Cup semi-final against Rangers due to a health scare. The on-loan Brighton player became ill during a training session at Riccarton near the end of last week and did not make the matchday squad for Hearts’ match at Hampden Park.

He was taken off the field and checked by Hearts’ medical staff according to protocol before being given the all-clear. He then went to Hampden to cheer on his teammates during their 3-1 loss. Adam Forrester, the 18-year-old right-back who was promoted from the club’s B team and was an unused substitute in the match, took his place in the Hearts squad.

Offiah is expected to resume training this week and continue his loan period in Edinburgh. A similar incident occurred in September, when the 21-year-old was taken to the hospital. Fortunately, he recovered quickly enough to reclaim his starting spot for the Hearts.

He has made nine appearances in total since joining Gorgie on a season-long loan in August. Brighton is keeping a close eye on events and is kept up to date on Offiah’s progress. They extended the player’s contract until June 2025 before sending him to Scotland.

Brighton

Hearts return to Premiership action this weekend when they travel to ninth-placed Motherwell. A win could propel the Edinburgh club into fourth place in the table before the international break. When domestic fixtures resume later this month, they will face St Johnstone, who appointed former Hearts manager Craig Levein as their new manager on Sunday, at Tynecastle.
