Paul Merson finds the news concerning the Tottenham duo, James Madison and Rodrigo Bentancur, unbelievable

Paul Merson was perplexed by what he was hearing about Tottenham Hotspur players James Maddison and Rodrigo Bentancur.

Recently, the Tottenham midfielders were compared to Manchester City‘s Treble-winning combination Rodri and Kevin de Bruyne.

But the outspoken Paul Merson was having none of it, claiming that the Tottenham players are nothing near the Premier League title winners in a tweet.

There is no doubt that James Maddison and Rodrigo Bentancur are key players for Ange Postecoglou.

And if they can stay fit from now until the end of the season, the club’s prospects of qualifying for the Champions League next season improve significantly.

Spurs currently sit fifth in the league, three points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.

Nonetheless, Paul Merson sent a stern message to a Spurs fan who chose to compare Rodrigo Bentancur and James Maddison to Rodri and Kevin de Bruyne.

“Please remove your Tottenham glasses and avoid comparing Bentancur and Maddison to De Bruyne and Rodri.” Merson stated, “I’m a huge fan of Bentancur and Maddison, but not the other two.”

James Maddison returns.

All four of the players named above are likely to play on Friday night at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Rodrigo Bentancur

Postecoglou will host Manchester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup, following a 3-3 draw at the Etihad in December.

The good news for Spurs is that Maddison, who has been out for a few months, could return to the club, which would be a huge boost.

While de Bruyne, following his magnificent cameo at St James’ Park, might get his first start in a long time.
