Federico Chiesa thinks Tottenham Hotspur truly got into the swing of things last week, and it seems like the rumors that a deal was close were wildly inaccurate.
The player’s agent, Fali Ramadani, may be encouraging the connection to Spurs; he just allegedly traveled to London for meetings with Premier League teams. With less than a year remaining on Chiesa’s Juventus contract, Ramadani has been entrusted with finding him a new club. Right now, there is no chance of a renewal, and things are beginning to become a little sour.
We clarified last week that rumors that Tottenham could pay €30–35 million felt inflated because Juventus had previously been quoted as asking for €20–25 million. Sandro Sabatini, an Italian journalist, has now criticized the player and hinted that Chiesa might decide to wait it out and sign as a free agent the next year.
According to CalcioNapoli24, he stated: “Chiesa’s performance has been associated for years with those who prevented him from playing at his position. We took a while to discuss where he should play—we even had Spalletti mention the right position. After that, he played every position on the national team before being benched.”
Looking at Chiesa’s numbers even prior to the injury, they do not justify such a hefty price. Because of the dynamics of the market, Chiesa has always been told that the coach was the reason he wasn’t performing well. The player has no gratitude whatsoever for the club that spent €50 million on him and had to wait a year for him. Instead, he feels compelled to depart on a free transfer after receiving a message from Marotta on his wedding day.
Naturally, that would be very contentious, and Juventus would rather sell to anybody this summer than risk losing their player to Inter for nothing. Tottenham will have a significant advantage in any discussions because of this.
