Daniel Farke‘s side welcomed last season’s play-off finalists to Elland Road on Saturday, looking to get back on track after a midweek defeat at Sunderland.

After a relatively quiet first 45 minutes, the hosts took the lead after the break, with Crysencio Summerville curling his effort past Sky Blues keeper Ben Collins.

Leeds were pegged back shortly after the opener when Bobby Thomas headed home from Tatsuhiro Sakamoto‘s cross on 66 minutes, unable to capitalise on their momentum.

Leeds pushed for a winner right to the end, but it eluded them, and the points were eventually shared between the two sides, but the action on the pitch was far from over.

As the managers exchanged pleasantries on the sidelines, Thomas appeared to try to shake hands with his teammate as they walked off the pitch, but Summerville refused, resulting in a heated exchange between the two.

Both teams’ players rushed in to defuse the situation, with Wilfried Gnoto physically restraining the enraged Dutchman as he attempted to square up to Thomas.

When asked about the incident after the game, Coventry manager Mark Robins stated that the frustration stemmed from Leeds’ inability to secure three points on the field.

‘It’s handbags,’ she says. It’s a strong desire to win a game. It hasn’t gone well for one team, and we’re happier with the result than they are.’ Robins stated.

‘They’ll be disappointed that they didn’t steamroller us – that’s the expectation of teams that are expected to be promoted.

‘That is their challenge. Teams will not come here to roll over and die. That is why promotion at any level is extremely difficult to obtain.

‘They’re a great side, but we’ve kept them as quiet as I’ve seen them. I’m very proud of the players; they’ve been outstanding this week, and this is an excellent result after the one at.’
