Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou must decide who to name in the Spurs defence this Saturday.
Tottenham are without Micky van de Ven, who has a hamstring injury that will keep him out until the new year.
Cristian Romero is also out for Spurs following his red card in Monday night’s Premier League loss to Chelsea at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Eric Dier is almost certain to start, but who will fill in as the second center-back is less certain.
According to reports, 18-year-old Tottenham summer signing Ashley Phillips could be in the squad and start alongside Dier.
Meanwhile, the Evening Standard predicts that Ben Davies will fill the left-sided centre-back position.
There is another option who might not start for Tottenham but could come off the bench. Alfie Dorrington, to be exact.
Tottenham insiders say Dorrington has ‘impressed’ them.
The 18-year-old Tottenham centre-back has been with the club for five years and has quickly progressed through the ranks to the Under-21s.
Dorrington has appeared in eight Premier League 2 games this season, recording one assist, and three EFL Trophy appearances.
The 6ft 5in defender (Superhotspur) has helped Spurs’ U21s go undefeated in their first eight Premier League 2 games of the season.
Simply put, Dorrington is an exceptional talent who has received high praise from Spurs insiders.
For example, football.london’s Alasdair Gold described the 18-year-old Spurs defender as a “terrific young defender” in a Q&A earlier this season.
Meanwhile, according to Dean Jones of GiveMeSport, “many close observers are actually more impressed” by Dorrington than by Phillips.
Although a start against Wolves may be too soon for Dorrington – Phillips has senior experience from his time at Blackburn – he could see time off the bench.
