Postecoglou is delighted as the top Tottenham target hints at a summer move and explains his failure to join London rivals

Tottenham appear to have been given the go-ahead to sign Chelsea and Brentford target Antonio Nusa this summer, with the Norwegian open to leaving Club Brugge and providing a detailed account of how his January move to the Gtech Community Stadium fell through.

The 18-year-old is regarded as one of the game’s most promising young players, having established himself as a true star in the Jupiler Pro League with some impressive performances for Les Gazelles. And, having already earned four senior international caps for Norway, he is regarded as one of a core of players capable of leading the Scandinavian nation into a bright future, alongside Manchester City‘s Oscar Bobb, the more established Martin Odegaard, and Erling Haaland.

As a result, interest in his services has skyrocketed in recent months, with Chelsea, Tottenham, and Brentford among the clubs linked with his signing.

However, with Tottenham focusing on more first-team ready players in January and Chelsea opting to keep their powder dry, the Bees outpaced their London rivals in their pursuit of Nusa’s services.

Unfortunately for Brentford, despite broad conversations with Thomas Frank‘s side, who agreed to a deal worth roughly €30 million with Club Brugge, the transfer fell through due to accusations the young winger failed a fitness test due to a problem in one of his knees.

Nusa has since recovered from his transfer disappointment to continue playing a key part for Brugge, albeit the goals have dried up in recent months.

Nonetheless, the star has refused to rule out a move to the Premier League this summer after disclosing the reasons behind the collapse of his Brentford transfer.

He says that allegations of a knee injury scuppering the move are false, but he has opened up about the concrete interest in his services, revealing that he has always preferred the concept of a June move to a January move.

“First and foremost, I had always planned to stay here until the summer. That makes things lot easier now,” Nusa told Het Laatste Nieuws.

“Suddenly, a lot began to move. I had a couple conversations with Brentford, including the coach [Thomas Frank], and was extremely thrilled. In the end, it didn’t happen; it’s things you can’t control.”

When asked specifically about perceived knee injuries, Nusa responded: “That’s what it was about. All I can tell is that I am very fit and have never had any issues with that knee. Finally, it became evident that there was no difficulty.

With the summer transfer window opening in just over two months, Nusa will once again be the subject of intense speculation, particularly from Premier League clubs.

When asked if she had considered a summer relocation, Nusa replied, “That would not help me in any scenario. I’m attempting to do my work right now. And I informed my brokers that I do not want to make a decision at this time. “Or you can’t make one!”

However, the teenager appears to be open to leave the Belgian side in the summer.

“I truly don’t know what will happen. This season, I had to miss a number of matches. Now, I want to play as much as possible. I can’t rule out staying here, but neither can I rule out leaving. At the moment, everything is open.
