According to reports, Ange Postecoglou has ‘decided’ if he will leave Tottenham Hotspur for Premier League rivals Liverpool this summer.
The former Celtic manager was named Tottenham Hotspur‘s new permanent head coach ahead of this season.
Optimism at Spurs has already dwindled throughout Jose Mourinho‘s and Antonio Conte’s tenures as managers, as fans were forced to watch their team play negatively.
Spurs have exceeded expectations under Postecoglou, with the Australian manager effectively overhauling their style of play, and they have been one of the Premier League’s surprise packages this season.
Tottenham have had no European football to cope with this season, and they have been eliminated from both domestic cup competitions, allowing them to focus solely on the Premier League until May. They are now in contention for a Champions League spot, behind fourth-placed Aston Villa by five points with a game in hand.
Postecoglou might be a contender for Premier League manager of the season, and he has been suggested as a possible replacement for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.
In 2013, he admitted to being a “massive fan” of Liverpool growing up. He stated, “I grew up watching Liverpool as well, and I believe the reason I am a manager now is due of the football club.
“I grew up hearing stories about Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley and the Boot Room, Ronnie Moran, Joe Fagan, Roy Evans, and all those men.
“That type of philosophy has remained with me. They were playing possession football before it was popular around the world.”
Despite this, Football Insider reports that ‘Postecoglou has made a decision on accepting an offer from Liverpool’ and that he will’ reject’ any bids to leave Tottenham this summer. The report adds.
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou would reject any offers to leave this summer, including one from Liverpool, according to Football Insider.
‘Sources have told Football Insider that Postecoglou has no intention of leaving Tottenham this summer for Liverpool or another team.
‘He is “happy and comfortable” at the Londoner, and he is grateful for the support he has had since taking over, as well as the opportunity to make a significant impact in the Premier League with an elite club. Postecoglou is thought to be completely committed to the Spurs project and to building on the tremendous success of his initial season.
The former Celtic manager has three years left on his contract, however, as Football Insider revealed last month, he does not have a release clause. Spurs would not accept any large-scale compensation proposals for their manager, who has won fans over with the exciting style of play he has introduced since his appointment last year.
‘On January 27, Football Insider revealed that Xabi Alonso is the main prospect to take over at Liverpool, but his appointment is far from certain, with Bayern Munich and Barcelona also looking for a new manager for next season.’
