This summer, the massive defender appears to be on the move.
Fabrice Hawkins, a journalist, has revealed an interesting update on Tottenham Hotspur‘s search of a star center-back, involving Fulham‘s Tosin Adarabioyo.
Who will the Spurs bring in?
Spurs signed goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, young centre-back Ashley Phillips, defender Micky van de Ven, playmaker James Maddison, winger Manor Solomon, and striker Alejo Veliz this summer transfer window, bolstering Ange Postecoglou‘s squad.
The departure of star striker Harry Kane has also provided the club with finances to invest on new arrivals, and while the club must first offload players, there is reason to believe Spurs could make further deals before the transfer deadline.
Postecoglou has publicly recognised that his team can improve in certain areas, as reported by reputable journalist Alasdair Gold, who also feels Spurs have a few tricks up their sleeves from now until the window closes.
“Postecoglou said that himself in his press conference on Friday, pretty much saying how there’s areas in defence, midfield, and attack that they can upgrade on as well,” Gold remarked on his YouTube channel (via TBR).
“I’d keep an eye on what happened.” I have a feeling Spurs have a number of deals ready to go if they can get the players out of the squad first.”
The north Londoners have recently been connected with a new center-back and striker options to replace Harry Kane, and Postecoglou is said to be looking for a “big-name” midfielder if Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leaves (Football Insider).
However, defence is likely to be the most important area for improvement, since they conceded 63 league goals last season, more than any other team higher than 15th in the table.
Adarabioyo, who has been identified as a target this window, is being pursued by both AS Monaco and Tottenham, with reporter Hawkins providing an interesting update on their pursuit.
The former Manchester City starlet is reportedly being pushed towards Tottenham, who also have a deal in the works to buy Eric Dier in exchange.
“Tosin Adarabioyo wants to sign for Monaco,” Hawkins stated.
“The central defender has an agreement with ASM Fulham, and his coach, Marco Silva, would prefer to sell him to Tottenham and recover Eric Dier.”
Dier, who has one year left on his current Tottenham contract, has been linked with a move away before September 1, with Fulham reportedly hoping to capitalise.
Tosin Adarabioyo, how excellent is he?
According to WhoScored, the 25-year-old was one of Fulham‘s best-performing players per 90 last season, recording the club’s second-highest percentage of aerial duels won per match and most clearances per 90.
Adarabioyo has also been dubbed “magnificent” by the media, with the huge 6 foot 5 defender also receiving acclaim for his ball-playing ability.
