PSG moves forward with their deal to purchase Diego Llorente, a defender for Leeds United ,news emerges from France

According to Santi Aouna, Paris Saint-Germain is now moving forward with an agreement to sign Diego Llorente, a Leeds United loanee, as soon as feasible.

On January 9, the Foot Mercato reporter revealed on his personal Twitter account that the French champions had first targeted Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano, but the Germans had rejected their bid.

Now, PSG boss Luis Enrique is focusing on Llorente, who made an incredible £115k a week playing in the Premier League for Leeds United (Angus Kinnear, Square Ball, 9 September).

Aouna shared on Twitter, saying, “PSG investigated the Upamecano route.” However, there is very little likelihood of signing this winter. “Paris is currently closing in on AS Roma’s Diego Llorente. Luis Enrique has validated the profile.

Determine the cost
Leeds United now has a fantastic chance to attempt to get PSG to pay any price for Llorente‘s signature. And a substantial windfall is now very much on the cards at Elland Road, given that the French heavyweights are practically frantic to sign him this month.

Diego Llorente

The Spanish defender has started 15 of Jose Mourinho‘s team’s 18 Serie A games, and there have been rumors that Roma wants to sign him long-term for a price tag of over £4.3 million. He has been a constant for the team (Roma Metropolitan, 20 December).

The Whites will have done extraordinarily well to obtain that sum for a player who may well be past his prime and may never set foot in West Yorkshire again if they can convince PSG to allow them to come that near to the stadium.

After Robin Koch signed a pre-contract deal with Eintracht Frankfurt, joining them permanently, it would be disastrous for the Whites to see yet another defender leave Elland Road for nothing. Koch’s contract is set to expire in six months.

Adam Pope criticized a Whites player for his “embarrassing” performance against Peterborough in unrelated Leeds United news.
