Radu Dragusin’s agent has stated that his client does not want to leave Genoa in January, despite interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
The 21-year-old joined Alberto Gilardino‘s side on a permanent basis in the summer after spending the previous season on loan at Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris.
Dragusin has played in Serie A as part of a back three and a back four this season, appearing in 18 games and contributing three goals.
In the final game of 2023, the Romanian international scored his second goal of the season, a powerful header that breached Yann Sommer’s net in a 1-1 draw against Inter Milan on December 29.
Despite strong interest in Dragusin, especially from Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur, the player’s agent Florin Manea has dismissed speculations that the defender could move during the January transfer window.
Manea has reported that Dragusin has had offers from the Saudi Pro League and Tottenham Hotspur since the start of the season.
“He does not think about money, but about his prospects for growth and the team he can play for,” Manea told Play TV via Football Italia.
“We were approached by Saudi Pro League clubs, but he refused to even listen to their proposals.” I have not had any communication from Napoli, Roma, or AC Milan.
“In any case, Radu is not considering leaving Genoa in the middle of the season; it would be like leaving some unfinished business for him.” I’ve spoken with Premier League clubs such as Tottenham and others, but he doesn’t want to leave right now.
“If Genoa talks to someone and comes to an agreement, we will consider their proposal.” I’m not sure what plans the club has or what formula they’d eventually explore for his sale.”
It is no secret that Spurs are looking for reinforcements at center-back in January, as Postecoglou tries to improve his team’s prospects of finishing in the top four.
Micky van de Ven suffered a hamstring injury in an early November 4-1 loss to London rivals Chelsea, leaving the Lilywhites bereft of options in the backline.
Postecoglou has been forced to play Ben Davies and Emerson Royal out of position due to the absence of Argentine Cristian Romero at times in recent months.
Spurs are believed to be pushing for Dragusin’s signature within the next week, as the North London club shifts their focus away from Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo.
Tottenham will begin their hunt for a long-awaited trophy in the FA Cup on Friday night, hosting Vincent Kompany‘s Burnley after a 3-1 win over Bournemouth in the Premier League.
