‘Really apparent’ – Sunderland, Leeds, and Middlesbrough will be unhappy after key Manchester United decision

Manchester United are expected to keep Amad.

Manchester United appear poised to keep Amad at Old Trafford, despite Sunderland head coach Michael Beale stating they want to bring him back on loan.

The 21-year-old has made just one Premier League appearance for Erik ten Hag‘s side this season, having recently recovered from a knee injury incurred during preseason. Sunderland monitored the player’s status over the summer following his impressive loan stay at the Stadium of Light, and Middlesbrough, Leeds, and Leicester have all expressed interest.

Amad denied reports that he will join for Boro this week. The athlete also shared a photo of himself playing for Sunderland on his Instagram account. However, according to the Manchester Evening News, United intend to keep Amad this month after paying an estimated £19 million to Italian club Atalanta for the player in 2020, which may rise to £37 million.

What did Sunderland manager Michael Beale say about Amad’s interest?

He told the Sunderland Echo: “We’ve made it quite plain to them that we’d be in there, but Manchester United also appreciate him. He could have an intriguing second half of the season in-house, but if he goes out on loan, I can guarantee you that they are fully aware of our desire for him to return.”

Beale also stated that Sunderland would be the preferred destination if a loan was approved at the conclusion of the window, with the condition that the club must negotiate a financial deal with Manchester United.

“Putting finances aside – because that’s the big thing isn’t – I know he loved his time here, the fans loved him and he was well loved in the changing room,” Beale said in a statement. “When I came here, it was something that if it could happen, it would happen but I think Man Utd realise they have a very good football player on their hands.”
