Report: Leeds closer to settling on first summer deal; star will join regardless of division

Leeds United may consider signing Tottenham Hotspur loanee Joe Rodon at Elland Road this summer.

Leeds United will want to permanently recruit centre-back Joe Rodon, who is currently on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, for the 2024/25 season, regardless of whether they are promoted to the Premier League, according to TEAMtalk editor James Marshment.

The Whites are seeking to clinch their place in the Championship’s top two and make an immediate return to the top flight after being relegated at the end of last season.

Daniel Farke‘s side is now one point ahead of third-placed Ipswich Town in the race for automatic promotion, looking to cut the gap on second-tier leaders Leicester City. Rodon has established himself as one of the Championship’s top centre-backs while on loan at Elland Road.

Leeds hope to sign Rodon permanently.

The defender’s future is a topic of debate.

Leeds signed Joe Rodon on loan from Tottenham in August 2023, committing to Elland Road until the conclusion of the 2023/24 season. The 26-year-old has subsequently established himself as a fixture in Farke‘s squad, which is seeking to make an immediate return to the Premier League after being relegated last season.

According to James Marshment‘s post on X, Rodon‘s effect at Leeds has been substantial, and there is a’strong potential’ the centre-back will make his loan spell permanent in Yorkshire, regardless of the club’s level next season.

Joe Rodon‘s impact at Leeds has been significant and amid the growing clamour for his services, TEAMtalk has been told there is a strong chance the defender WILL make his loan stay permanent regardless of what division Leeds are in next season.”
