The transfer window may have only opened this week, but Tottenham Hotspur’s rumour mill is already in overdrive.
PSG are interested in Lutsharel Geertruida.
According to French news outlet L’Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain has increased its efforts to capture Feyenoord’s Lutsharel Geertruida ahead of Tottenham and other Premier League clubs.
Tottenham‘s interest in Geertruida originally surfaced many weeks ago, when De Telegraaf reported that both the North London club and Liverpool were considering offers for the Dutchman.
On Sunday, The Daily Mirror reported that Spurs have jumped ahead of the Reds in the race to sign the right-back.
It was revealed that Arne Slot was reconsidering making the Netherlands international his first signing at Anfield, allowing the Lilywhites to grab a march on his team.
Tottenham confront PSG transfer tussle.
However, L’Equipe has reported that PSG is currently at the front of the queue to sign Geertruida, having made moves on the right-back.
According to the report, Paris is eager to sign the versatile defender and has already offered him a new deal.
The publication further claims that the 23-year-old Feyenoord star will be allowed to go for merely £25 million this summer because he just has a year left on his contract at De Kuip.
Our View
Tottenham appear to have restricted their options for the right-back position to Vanderson, Archie Gray, and Geertruida, but negotiations with any of these players have yet to progress.
Tottenham will most certainly need to sign another right-back this summer, as Emerson Royal appears to be leaving the club.
I’m surprised Spurs haven’t made a more serious effort to sign Kyle Walker-Peters, considering the club’s dearth of homegrown and club-trained options.
