Report: Spurs and a defender are in negotiations, but the transaction is likely to be difficult

According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur have begun exploratory negotiations with OGC Nice for Jean-Clair Todibo.

Tottenham‘s interest in the French center-back has increased dramatically since it was initially revealed by Sky Sports at the beginning of December.

Last week, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano stated that Spurs had begun conversations with the French club about a possible January signing. He stated that Todibo is at the top of Spurs‘ priority list, but negotiations will be difficult.

90 minutes followed up this allegation by saying that Todibo is near the top of Ange Postecoglou‘s wishlist and that the North London club could buy him for as little as £35 million.

Contrary to these allegations, Athletic’s David Ornstein is sceptical that Tottenham will be able to sign Jean-Clair Todibo in the January transfer window.

Tottenham’s aim is to sign a defender.

According to Football Insider, Ange Postecoglou has identified a defensive reinforcement as a priority in January. Negotiations with Jean Clair-Todibo have already begun.

However, the source backs up Romano’s allegation that a transfer for the Nice man will be difficult. Tottenham will have to work hard if they want to get the Frenchman to North London during the winter transfer window.

Jean-Clair Todibo in a Spurs jersey is an enticing proposition. However, we still have a long way to go before we can gain his signature. Much will depend on the player’s desire to come here.

I am still sceptical that we will be able to sign Todibo in January. The interest is strong, but convincing the French club to sell him in the middle of the season could be difficult. Let’s see how this plays out.
