Report: Spurs in pole position to sign Premier League midfielder after contract discussions collapse.

Conor Gallagher’s future is uncertain, but Tottenham Hotspur are still said to be in ‘pole position’ to sign the Chelsea star this summer.

Spurs have been linked with Gallagher for the last two transfer windows, and those speculations are only growing as we approach the summer window.

The England international is nearing the end of his current contract with Chelsea, and sources say he has yet to be given a new term by his hometown club (TBRFootball).

While Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has stated that he wants to keep Gallagher, and the club’s fans have expressed their displeasure with the prospect of losing the midfielder (talkSPORT), Gallagher is thought to be sacrificed in an attempt to balance the books at Chelsea.

According to reports, the Blues are willing to sell for roughly £50 million and would like to complete the transaction by the end of June so that the profit may be included in their yearly financial results (Standard).

Tottenham are the favourites to sign Conor Gallagher.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham are still interested in the 24-year-old and have moved ahead of Chelsea in negotiations for a new contract.

According to the source, Chelsea is bracing for a “backlash” from their fans if they trade Gallagher, but Financial Fair Play laws have driven them into a position, and they may have to sell nonetheless.

Tottenham have a long-term interest in Gallagher and are prepared to capitalise if the player becomes available this summer, with the Lilywhites said to be in “pole position” to sign the Chelsea star.

Spurs Web Opinion

I’m not convinced Gallagher is the appropriate player for what we need in midfield, but the prospect of upsetting the whole Chelsea crowd is enticing, and we should seize the opportunity, even if it’s motivated solely by spite.
