According to Sport, Xavi Hernandez’s desire to sign Giovani Lo Celso is doomed because Tottenham do not want to unload the midfielder.
Sport reported on Wednesday that Xavi had told the Barcelona management that he wanted to bring Lo Celso through the door in January, following the club’s failed attempts to do so in the summer.
The Spanish coach allegedly saw it as a test of how much support he has from the Catalan club.
Tottenham are unwilling to sell Giovani Lo Celso.
Sport has now confirmed the same allegation, claiming that Xavi told the club’s board that Lo Celso is the best option to replace the injured Gavi.
The 43-year-old is known to be a fan of the Tottenham player and feels he can get along with Robert Lewandowski.
However, the publication adds that a prospective deal for Lo Celso will be difficult to complete, owing to worries over Barcelona‘s ability to fulfil the midfielder’s wage.
Second, it is claimed that Tottenham ‘haven’t consented’ to negotiate for the Argentina international yet.
Spurs Online Opinion
Postecoglou has made it obvious that Lo Celso is an important component of his intentions since the summer. There’s no reason to believe the Australian’s opinion of the 27-year-old has shifted. An leave next summer appears considerably more plausible for the Argentine than a departure in January.
