According to the print edition of Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur are still interested in signing Albert Gudmundsson this summer, while Inter Milan is struggling to clinch a deal for the Genoa star.
According to the report, Inter have chosen Gudmundsson as the best choice for strengthening their assault this summer, and the Iceland international is willing to move to the San Siro.
However, the Nerazzurri have several challenges, one of which is Genoa’s €35 million (£25.4 million) asking price, which is considered too costly for the reigning Serie A champions.
Spurs could yet move for Gudmundsson.
At the present, the 27-year-old is thought to want to join Inter and is waiting for Simone Inzaghi‘s team to make a move.
However, it is suggested that the Genoa star may soon begin to listen to offers, allowing Tottenham to make a move for him.
Spurs have already strengthened their forward line this summer with the 12-month loan acquisition of Timo Werner, but they are eager to add more before the transfer window ends.
While Spurs clearly had an exploratory interest in Gudmundsson, I am not convinced that he is one of their priority objectives.
If the club was interested in signing the 27-year-old, they would have most likely offered Djed Spence as a bargaining chip to lure the forward from Genoa.
