Report: Spurs ‘working hard’ to sign forward following Lazio’s rejection

According to a rumour in La Repubblica (as transmitted by Pianeta Genoa 1893), Tottenham Hotspur remains interested in signing Albert Gudmundsson and is one of two Premier League clubs vying for the Genoa star.

Albert Gudmundsson

Tottenham have been highly linked with Albert Gudmundsson.

Over the previous few months, there has been a lot of chatter tying Gudmundsson to a move to Tottenham, and it does not appear to be slowing down.

The latest to report on the forward’s future is La Repubblica, which claims he is on Spurs and West Ham’s wishlist.

Along with the two London clubs, Napoli, Inter Milan, AS Roma, and Lazio are claimed to be in the running to sign the 27-year-old, but the source states that the two Premier League sides are now ‘pushing hard’ for him.

Lazio had a bid turned down for Gundmundsson.
According to the report, Lazio offered €20 million plus  Matteo Cancellieri in exchange for Gudmundsson, but SERIE Arejected down the offer.

The Serie A club is reportedly demanding €40 million in cash rather than a player trade this summer.

Meanwhile, another source in Sportitalia suggests that Lazio is unlikely to succeed in their pursuit of the Iceland international, especially considering Premier League interest in the forward.

Tottenham‘s interest in Gudmundsson appears to be purely exploratory.

If the Lilywhites were serious about landing the attacker, they would have brought it up during their negotiations with Genoa for Djed Spence.
