Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly interested in signing Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso, who may be eager to leave the Turin giants in the future, according to a recent report from Italy.
Ange Postecoglou has made the full-back position one of the most crucial positions in the entire squad by requesting that his wide defenders invert and adjust as needed.
With Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie, his two first-choice full-backs, it’s an approach that has generally worked.
Beyond them, Emerson Royal has also done a decent job of settling into the role. Ben Davies, who replaced Udogie at the beginning of the recent victory over Crystal Palace, didn’t appear at all at ease.
It’s unclear whether Ryan Sessegnon, who is recovering from an injury, can give Udogie more consistent competition on the left side, or if Postecoglou will look to trade for a player.
Spurs might give Cambiaso another look.
Andrea Cambiaso of Juventus might be the player Spurs choose if they decide to sign a new player for that position. The young Italian was linked to the North London club during the summer (Sky Sport Italia 13/07/23 – via Mondo Napoli).
The rumours are back in the air, and they originate from CalcioMercato. Spurs have reportedly “set their sights” on the 23-year-old.
The Lilywhites have expressed “talk of interest,” but it’s unclear if the Old Lady would allow the player to leave. Nevertheless, it’s thought that Cambiaso, who is eager to play regular football, is “not excluded” from the idea of moving on.
My Opinion
I hope I’m mistaken, but I don’t see Sessegnon succeeding under Postecoglou. I believe he will step in whenever needed through the end of the season, but in the summer we will try to sign more formidable opponents for Udogie. But I’m not sure if Cambiaso is the best person for the job.
