The competition for Conor Gallagher’s signing has heated up, with Atletico Madrid now leading the charge to sign the Chelsea midfielder this summer, despite previous links with Tottenham.

It’s no secret that Tottenham are aiming to bring in more homegrown players in order to increase their European football quota (Football London).
Tottenham have apparently been long-time admirers of Connor Gallagher, with claims dating back to last year as Spurs attempted to better grasp his contract position to see whether Chelsea would be ready to let him leave (Sky Sports).
Fast forward to now, Gallagher played the most minutes of any Chelsea player last season as Mauricio Pochettino led the club to sixth place, earning them UEFA Conference League Football.
Atletico Madrid is pushing harder for Gallagher.
According to the Telegraph, Atletico Madrid has’shown greater interest’ in Gallagher than Tottenham, even holding conversations with Chelsea in recent days.
However, Spurs are still thought to be interested in the midfielder, and the prospects of Atletico coming up with an appealing financial deal to sign Gallagher are said to be limited.
Spurs have yet to make an official approach for the England player this summer.
Archie Gray‘s arrival undoubtedly enhances Spurs’ homegrown quota, which will be further bolstered by the future exits of Hojbjerg, Lo Celso, Gil, and others.
We must replace these stars with young, ambitious, and possibly homegrown players. Could we find the solutions in our academy, with Devine and Moore? I expect them to play a role in the coming season.
