Leeds United transfer news as Josh Doig discussions begin in January
According to Toro Goal, Leeds United have been in communication with Hellas Verona over a potential £5.2 million transfer to bring left-back Josh Doig to Elland Road in January.
Leeds, Rangers, and Monza are among the clubs interested, according to the Italian media outlet with over 25,000 Instagram followers.
It was also stated that Italian middlemen are seeking to find Doig a transfer in January, with Torino already holding new talks about a possible deal.
One to keep an eye on
Doig has already got much of first-team experience at the age of 21, having made 32 league appearances for the Serie A club since joining from Hibernian in 2022, where he had played 62 Scottish Premiership games.
With lots of interest in his signature heading into the January transfer window, and a £5.2million asking price that would likely be manageable to a club in Leeds‘ position, that top-flight experience would benefit whichever club he ends up with.
Leeds will look to find a trustworthy first-team left-back to help see out their promotion campaign this season, with Junior Firpo suffering from recurring injury troubles and Sam Byram also suffering from injury blows as has been the narrative of his career.
Doig, who has already represented Scotland at Under-21 level, should be seeking to advance his career in order to make the senior squad for the Euros, and a strong Championship campaign with Leeds may be the ideal springboard.
