Sources: Tottenham decides whether to exercise Nelsson’s £26 million release clause.
According to Football Insider, Tottenham are not interested in signing Galatasaray defender Victor Nelsson in January.
Spurs have been heavily linked with the Denmark international, with some reports claiming the club is about to activate his £26 million release clause.
Nelsson, 25, is thought to be off Tottenham’s radar as the winter transfer window approaches.
The defender was instrumental in Galatasaray winning the Super Lig title in 2022-23.
This season, he has made 13 appearances for the Istanbul-based giants in all competitions, including the Champions League.
Nelsson’s contract with the club runs until June 2026, after joining from FC Copenhagen in 2021.
The 10-cap Dane has made 93 appearances for Galatasaray, scoring twice and assisting once.
Tottenham Hotspur are looking to add another center-back to their squad, despite Cristian Romero and summer signing Micky van de Ven forming a formidable partnership under new manager Ange Postecoglou.
On September 30, Football Insider revealed that Postecoglou has made a new centre-back his top priority for January.
Tottenham are also keeping an eye on Club America defender Sebastian Caceres, who has impressed for Marcelo Bielsa‘s Uruguay, according to sources.
The Lilywhites are early title contenders in the 2023-24 season and have yet to lose a Premier League game.
Spurs have 26 points ahead of their match against Chelsea on Monday (6 November).
In other news, Tottenham is prepared to accept a £15 million bid for midfielder.
