Ryan Yates talks about what was spoken in the Nottingham Forest locker room during the half against Brighton.

Yesterday’s 2-2 draw between Nottingham Forest and Brighton gave the Reds four points from two extremely difficult away Premier League games.

To guarantee a share of the spoils, goals from Danny Welbeck and Jack Hinshelwood were followed by goals from Chris Wood and Ramon Sosa.

The main talking point occurred in the 82nd minute when Morgan Gibbs-White‘s second yellow card sent Forest down to 10 men.

Nuno Espirito Santo and Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler were both furious at the decision and felt it was wrong.

Just before halftime, Forest scored two goals in three minutes, and Ryan Yates, Jota Silva, and Neco Williams were added.

After the Reds put on such a strong display at that time, it was unfortunate that Forest lost at the 45-minute mark.

But after a heated exchange at the half, Espirito Santo made three substitutions to enter the game.

Yates, a player who entered the game for Forest, has revealed what was said at the break when the Reds were down.

He stated to BBC Sport, “It was excellent.” We had a strategy to get down the flanks, and Callum performed brilliantly to get the penalty, so we caught them off guard.

But with excellent teams, it can easily become two if you don’t stop them from regaining their composure and building back into it, or if you don’t stop their home fans from rising up.

“We regrouped at halftime and just wanted to show the fight and resilience that we have shown throughout the season. Halftime came at a good time.”

At Forest, there appears to be a strong sense of teamwork.
During the second half, Yates assumed the captain’s armband and continued to play in a very consistent manner.

The 26-year-old is frequently the subject of heated debate at the City Ground, but it seems like he is getting better with each Premier League game.

His commitment to the cause is unquestionable, and it’s obvious that he’s a player that is respected in the locker room.

It’s possible that Forest missed this point at Brighton the previous season. The Reds earned a piece of the profits since the current crop of talent is inexperienced and doesn’t know when to give up.

It’s encouraging for Forest going into the season that they now have guys who can make an impact off the bench.

With nine points from five games thus far, the Reds are demonstrating the never-say-die mentality that seems to be emanating from the locker room.

Yates set a great example in the second half of yesterday’s match, and Forest can now play with a lot of confidence against Fulham the following weekend.
