Felipe, a defender for Nottingham Forest, made a welcome comeback from an injury on Tuesday night. The Brazilian center back started for Forest’s under-21 team in their inaugural EFL Trophy group match, a 2-1 loss to Harrogate Town.

According to the competition’s rules, under-21 teams may have two players who are overage. Felipe and Callum Hudson-Odoi, who Forest had acquired on deadline day, started the game; both players were replaced after one hour.

For Felipe, it was a crucial step toward rehabilitation, while Hudson-Odoi had the opportunity to rack up some playing time.

The two may now be scheduled to play for Forest when the Reds meet Burnley at the City Ground on Monday, September 18 following the break for international play. Five days later, there is a trip to champions of the Premier League Manchester City.

Felipe was unable to play in any of the Reds’ preseason contests due to a knee injury, and he did not practice much over the summer. He has yet to play this year, however he has sat on the bench for the last few games.

Through a translator, Felipe stated last month: “There were a lot of different things, different niggles. It was discovered that I had kneecap fibrosis, which was restricting my movement. But everything has now been sorted and recovered.

I had it the previous year. The same thing happened, except it was a little more intense. I would treat it and take medicine to control it.

“I made a lot of compromises to get on the field, so it was extremely delicate at the conclusion of the season. In order to prevent future issues, it was decided that I should take this time to rest and heal.
