Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur celebrated the return of midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur against Crystal Palace.
Rodrigo Bentancur has returned to Tottenham Hotspur, and teammate Son Heung-min appears to be overjoyed.
Tottenham beat Crystal Palace 2-1 on Friday night, taking a five-point lead atop the Premier League table.
Tottenham’s second goal came after a Joel Ward own goal, and Spurs didn’t back down when Palace pulled one back late in the game.
The return of midfielder Bentancur, who came on as a substitute in the second half, was the icing on the cake.
Rodrigo Bentancur’s return is celebrated by Son Heung-min.
Bentancur hasn’t played in the Premier League since losing to Leicester City in January.
In that game, the Uruguayan suffered a major knee injury and has been on the mend ever since.
Bentancur was only on the pitch for a few minutes, but it was a memorable moment for him, the Spurs team, and the travelling fans.
Captain Son expressed his delight at Bentancur’s return on Tottenham’s official website.
Son admitted that seeing Bentancur made him smile, but it was also an emotional moment for him after witnessing his father’s ordeal.
Son went on to say that Bentancur is a ‘unbelievable player’ for Ange Postecoglou to call on in the future.
“It makes me happy.” What a fantastic player to have on our team. “He’s like a new signing,” Son explained. “We couldn’t wait to have him back and when he came on, I was getting emotional because he’s a good friend of mine.”
“I enjoy every single moment with him; even when I was injured last season, he was always pushing me.” I’m just grateful he returned healthy; hopefully, he’ll now stay fit, and he’ll be a huge help to the team. “I’m overjoyed to have him back,” he added.
Players react to Bentancur’s return.
Sergio Reguilon‘s message to Bentancur has already been covered, but the left back is far from alone in appreciating his comeback.
Bentancur took to Instagram to post an emotional message about his return, which elicited reactions from players all over the world.
Former Tottenham right back Matt Doherty and current Tottenham winger Manor Solomon both expressed their admiration for the ex-Juventus player.
Alvaro Morata said ‘vamos animal,’ and Paulo Dybala, a former Spurs target, responded with three love hearts.
Pedro Porro added, ‘Let’s go my brother,’ with players who have played alongside him at Bentancur clearly pleased to see him back in action.
