Brighton will not stand in the way of manager Roberto De Zerbi leaving the club in the future, despite strong Man United interest, according to Football Insider.
On Saturday (2 December), Football Insider revealed that De Zerbi is likely to commit his future to the Seagulls as they prepare to offer him a new contract.
However, it is believed that if the Italian were to change his mind, Brighton would be willing to release him if their compensation demands were met.
The Seagulls have recently held out for top-tier fees for several of their top stars and are prepared to do the same with their highly regarded manager.
A reliable source told Football Insider that the south coast club would not stop De Zerbi from leaving if he felt the time was right.
Despite links across Europe, it is believed that the Italian will not be able to leave the club immediately, and he is now set to commit his future to Brighton with a new contract.
De Zerbi’s current deal at the Amex Stadium expires in June 2026.
Last month (3 November), sources told Football Insider that Man United had made the ex-Sassuolo manager a top target.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the incoming Red Devils owner, is expected to fire underperforming manager Erik ten Hag and replace him with the 44-year-old.
He has also been linked with Manchester City and Real Madrid, as well as clubs in his home country of Italy.
De Zerbi took over at Brighton in September 2022 and led the Seagulls to a sixth-place finish in the Premier League last season, securing the club’s first-ever European berth.
Despite being drawn with AEK Athens, Marseille, and Ajax, the Seagulls have already confirmed their place in the Europa League knockout rounds this season.
