After selling a minority stake in Leeds United to Ackerley Partners over the summer, 49ers Enterprises is set to open new takeover talks with another investment group, Football Insider has learned.
This summer, the US-based investment group purchased a majority stake in Leeds from former owner Andrea Radrizzani.
After the club was relegated from the Premier League, the 49ers paid around £170 million to acquire his remaining 56 percent stake.
Over the summer, Leeds’ new owners welcomed a number of celebrity investors, including Michael Phelps, Jordan Spieth, and Justin Thomas, who all purchased a minority stake.
According to Bloomberg, the 49ers also sold a minority stake in the team to Ackerley Partners, the owners of NHL team Seattle Kraken.
The amount invested by Ackerley Partners is unknown, but it is assumed that the new funds will be used to help with operating costs and football operations at Elland Road.
According to Football Insider, the 49ers are also planning to hold talks with other potential investors as they ramp up their promotion push.
Following the Yorkshire club’s rise in popularity in America, a number of US parties have expressed an interest in purchasing a stake.
The 49ers are eager to return to the Premier League this season and are willing to raise funds to supplement the club’s January transfer budget.
Leeds are currently third in the Championship table, but are eight points behind the automatic promotion places.
