According to John Wenham, any club interested in signing Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven would have to offer more than £120 million.
The owner of the respected Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose does not see the Dutch international leaving the club anytime soon.
Garth Crooks, a BBC Sport analyst, believes Tottenham could struggle to maintain van de Ven.
But Wenham, speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, estimates that any team would have to spend at least quadruple the £43 million Spurs paid to sign the 22-year-old (Sky Sports News, 8 August 2023).
“I’m not worried about losing van de Ven,” Wenham stated.
“We’re talking about one of the world’s top left-footed centre backs.
“He possesses every characteristic that teams look for in a contemporary centre-back, and he is also young.
“He’s only getting better with each game, and his contract with the Spurs runs until 2029.
“I don’t want to put a price on him, but any club would need to pay at least triple the value of the deal which we agreed for him.”
Micky van de Ven is precious for Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham.
It may be argued that Van de Ven is worth more than £120 million to Tottenham.
Ange Postecoglou like playing with a high line, which is made possible by the Dutchman’s quickness.
This season, van de Ven has repeatedly saved Tottenham with his recovery speed.
Without him, the squad would have to radically adapt their style of play.
It might be argued that the centre-back is important to Tottenham and Postecoglou.
In other Tottenham news, Levy is likely to lose millions as part of the club’s clearout, according to a Fabrizio Romano update.
