Five of Tottenham’s first-team players are in the final year of their contracts, and according to GiveMeSport, the North London club could save over half a million pounds each week if they all go.
We reported last week that, other from fortifying a few of areas, Tottenham‘s focus in the January transfer window will be to sell undesired players.
Hugo Lloris and Eric Dier were also included in the report as players Spurs could try to offload when the transfer window opens.
Tottenham may let some contracts to expire.
However, they are not the only goalkeepers whose contracts expire in June, as two other goalkeepers, Fraser Forster and Brandan Austin, are also in the final year of their contracts.
Furthermore, Ivan Perisic, who is presently sidelined with an ACL injury, will be a free agent in June of next year.
If none of those players sign new contracts, GiveMeSport estimates that their departures would save the team 450k each week.
Among the aforementioned players, Forster is the only one I can see signing a new contract with the club. If the 35-year-old does not show any indications of decline this season, I believe he will be offered a one-year deal, with Tottenham delaying signing a backup custodian until 2025.
