Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly set their sights on Juventus defender Gleison Bremer as a January transfer target, according to Fichajes.
Tottenham are undoubtedly lacking in central defence, with Eric Dier the only veteran centre-back Ange Postecoglou could turn to if either Crisitan Romero or Micky van de Ven are injured.
As a result, it is not surprising that Fichajes is now claiming that the Premier League club would prioritise purchasing a top central defender when the transfer window reopens.
Tottenham are willing to move for Bremer in January
According to the report, the Lilywhites want to hire Bremer in January and are willing to pay more than €40 million (£34.7 million) for him.
According to the outlet, despite the fact that the 26-year-old has been a stalwart of Massimiliano Allegri’s backline and has emerged as one of Juve’s leaders, he could be enticed by the chance to ‘try his luck in the Premier League’.
However, Fichajes adds that Spurs are not the only English club interested in Bremer, with the defender also being tracked by some of their competitors.
Although Tottenham aim to ‘complete’ the deal ‘as quickly as possible,’ the former Torino’s star price might skyrocket if a bidding battle breaks out.
Spurs Web Opinion
There is no way Juve would sell Bremer for as little as £35 million. With the centre-back under contract at the Allianz Arena until 2027, he is expected to cost at least £50 million in January, and maybe much more if other Premier League clubs enter the race.
