Spurs defender admits he has seldom communicated with Ange Postecoglou.

Joe Rodon has revealed that he didn’t have much of a talk with Ange Postecoglou last summer before being loaned to Leeds United.

Rodon’s season ended in bitter heartbreak as Leeds failed at the final hurdle, losing the playoff final to Southampton on Sunday and being relegated to another year in the Championship.

It remains to be known what the centre-back’s future holds, but it is evident that it will not be at Tottenham, with only one year remaining on his contract.

It has been widely reported that the 26-year-old, who Spurs value between £12 million to £15 million, is attracting a lot of interest ahead of the summer transfer season.

Joe Rodon has not spoken with Postecoglou regularly.

The centre-back has admitted that he did not have much of an opportunity to impress Postecoglou when the Australian came at Spurs last summer.

When asked if he communicated with the new Tottenham manager, Rodon answered The Daily Mail, “Not really.” I didn’t communicate much on that side. I’m a big boy, and I won’t dwell on things. I knew it was better for me to play every week.”

The Wales international admitted that he knew he wanted to move to Elland Road the moment Leeds approached him last summer.

When asked about his move to the Championship, the Spurs player replied, “Things developed at the back end of the transfer window last summer, and I’d played against the boss’ (Daniel Farke’s) Norwich team a few times.” I believed his style of football was always going to benefit me and how I prefer to play.

“Of course, Leeds is a huge club, and I felt it was a great chance. It’s certainly been the craziest season ever, but I’ve enjoyed every moment of it.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Rodon obviously seems to have a true connection with Leeds and I fear that he might not want to continue at the club despite their failure to get promoted.

However, Farke’s men might not be able to pay him, given that they will not get the riches that would have come with bouncing back to the top division at the first time of asking.
