Micky van de Ven’s estimated return date has been set by manager Paul O Keefe.
The Dutchman joined Tottenham from Wolfsburg in the summer and has been one of the club’s top players.
He had an immediate effect, forging a good defensive partnership with Cristian Romero and assisting Spurs to a fantastic start to the season, winning eight and drawing two.
However, the game against Chelsea resulted in not only a defeat for Spurs, but also the long-term injury of two of their top players, Maddison and van de Ven.
He was expected to be out until February, but O Keefe offered some encouraging news yesterday, saying that the defender has taken an important step towards rehabilitation by beginning individual training with the ball on grass for the first time since his injury.
And he even mentioned a timetable for his return. When asked when he might return, O Keefe stated, “Maybe Burnley FA Cup.”
The match versus Burnley is scheduled for January 3rd. This implies Van de Ven could be returning a month sooner than predicted. Ange Postecoglou will benefit greatly from his early availability.
