Ange Postecoglou has a big new injury concern before the challenging Spurs fixture run.
Tottenham will try to quickly recover from their humiliating setback to Newcastle as they compete for Champions League qualifying.
Spurs were humiliated 4-0 by Eddie Howe‘s team at St James’ Park, and they now face a key run of fixtures in their desperate pursuit of a top-four finish.
Ange Postecoglou‘s team will also face Manchester City next month in a difficult stretch to complete the season. Here’s all of the latest Tottenham injury news and comeback dates…
Pedro Porro
Spurs‘ most recent injury blow occurred at Newcastle, where right-back Porro walked off in the early stages of the second half after appearing to tweak his hamstring.
Following the game, Postecoglou said of the Portuguese: “He felt something in the first half and wanted to see how it went in the second half. I haven’t consulted with the medical team yet, but we’ll see what the problem is.”
Tottenham will now review the situation, and it is unclear whether Porro would face a layoff.
Richarlison
Tottenham were without Richarlison against Newcastle, with Postecoglou revealing prior to the trip that he wanted to give the Brazilian more time to recuperate from a knee problem that had affected him since early March.
“Not for this week,” Postecoglou stated. “He’s close and, obviously with the weekend off next weekend, it’ll give him time to recover – and he’s on track to do that.”
If everything goes well, Richarlison will most likely play in the north London derby.
Potential return date: April 28, vs Arsenal.
Manor Solomon
Solomon has not played since September, following an injury-plagued debut season at Tottenham.
The Israel international had initial knee surgery but required a follow-up procedure in March and is currently undergoing rehabilitation.
He is unlikely to return to action before the season ends.
Potential return date: Summer 2024.
Ryan Sessegnon
Sessegnon has been troubled by hamstring ailments in recent seasons, and he required another operation in February after getting injured again while on duty with Tottenham’s Under-21s.
The versatile left-back underwent surgery on his left hamstring last year, and the most recent procedure was on his right hamstring.
It is anticipated that he will be able to prevent any repeating troubles in the future, but for the time being, Sessegnon will not play again this season.
Potential return date: Summer 2024.
Fraser Forster
Tottenham‘s backup custodian suffered a foot fracture during training in February and will be out for at least a few months.
Postecoglou, like Sessegnon and Solomon, stated earlier in April that the former England international would be unlikely to feature again this season, as Brandon Austin is the chief deputy to No. 1 Guglielmo Vicario.
Potential return date: Summer 2024.
