Spurs make their first summer transfer; signing a ‘big’ £30 million star.

Nottingham Forest will be compelled to trade players before June to avoid more point deductions.

Tottenham Hotspur are allegedly preparing to make a deal for Nottingham Forest star Callum Hudson-Odoi, with Football Insider claiming this might happen before the end of June.

Nottingham Forest, which avoided relegation by finishing 17th in the Premier League this season, will have to transfer players before the end of June to avoid a further points deduction. The former Chelsea starlet is being considered as one such player, with insiders claiming Spurs see the 23-year-old as having ‘great’ potential, and his current club’s financial circumstances will make it much easier to pull him away from the City Ground.

The north London club has previously announced that RB Leipzig star Timo Werner’s loan will be extended until the end of the next season, with the revised arrangement now featuring an £8.5 million buyout option. However, the N17 club is not done boosting their attacking options, and the Tottenham Hotspur board is hoping to bring in younger attacking players this summer, with England international Hudson-Odoi among several reported targets.

Timo Werner

The 23-year-old winger previously rose through the Chelsea academy ranks and was regarded as one of England’s most promising young players. In March 2019, he became the second youngest player to start a competitive match for England—after Wayne Rooney in April 2003.

However, he struggled to earn consistent minutes at Stamford Bridge, then failed to impress on loan at Bayer Leverkusen in the 2022/23 season before signing with Forest last summer for £5 million.

He has scored eight goals in 29 Premier League games for the club since coming in 2023, and Nuno Espirito Santo’s side is now expected to ask for about £30 million for his services. The City Ground club is thought to be on the verge of breaking the Financial Fair Play rules again, with the club needing to make up £30 million in profit from player sales by the end of June.
