The Lilywhites are apparently interested at the excellent Championship prospect.
Tottenham Hotspur have already made two additions to their squad during the January transfer window and are apparently looking for a Championship talent…
Spurs’ interest in an England under-21 international
According to Alasdair Gold of football.london, Tottenham are one among the clubs keeping an eye on Norwich City hotshot Jonathan Rowe following his impressive season thus far.
According to the journalist, the Lilywhites are keeping an eye on the England U21 international’s position while other, undisclosed Premier League clubs express interest.
However, there is no mention of how much it would cost to capture his signing, or if a deal would be completed this month or in the summer, if a team made a bid for his talents.
By winning the battle to recruit the teenage winger, Ange Postecoglou might provide an exciting companion to James Maddison at the top of the pitch.
James Maddison’s creative genius
The England international hit the ground running in North London following his permanent move from Leicester City ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Maddison has proved to be an excellent playmaker, able to break down opposing defences and offer his teammates with high-quality scoring opportunities.
As shown in the table above, the former Norwich City player has been one of the top creators and most progressive talents in his position in the Premier League this season.
He might be the ideal midfielder to partner Rowe in Spurs’ aggressive formation, as the Canaries youngster has the ability to capitalise on Maddison’s inventiveness.
Jonathan Rowe’s Finishing Quality
This season, the Norwich City player has risen to prominence in the Championship, demonstrating his ability to finish ruthlessly from either wing.
He can play on either the left or right flank and is skilled with both feet. The 20-year-old wizard has five goals with his right foot, four with his left, and three with his head in all competitions.
This demonstrates that he is a complete finisher who can score with either his foot or his head, and the Yellows wizard has been effective in front of goal.
Rowe, whose recent strike against Hull – shown above – was rated as “absolutely sublime” by podcaster HLTCO, has 11 Championship goals from 4.29 Expected Goals in 25 games this season.
The current Tottenham star has the capacity to generate high-quality chances at an astonishing pace, and he might, as a result, supply Rowe with the opportunities he needs to find the back of the net for Postecoglou week after week, making them an interesting combination for the club.
Spurs are not completed after the additions of Dragusin and Werner.
North Londoners have moved rapidly in the January window, which is significantly different from prior years.
Spurs have a reputation, particularly in the winter, for signing their preferred new faces until later in the window – but 2024 is breaking the mould in this regard.
Both men came at N17 before January 12, with manager Ange Postecoglou undoubtedly delighted by Tottenham’s quickness in bringing him exactly who he needs.
Dragusin’s signing is a significant boost for Spurs, especially after Emerson Royal and Ben Davies were forced to play as temporary centre-backs on several occasions.
The focus now shifts to securing a midfielder. Indeed, it is widely understood that Postecoglou is interested in Chelsea player Conor Gallagher as a new number eight and running back.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s future is also uncertain, after making only a few Premier League appearances this season.
The Dane has been demoted to the role of a squad player, making numerous top-flight appearances but spending the majority of his time on the bench.
With both Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr now at the Africa Cup of Nations, Postecoglou’s lack of midfield options beyond his regular players has been highlighted.
Spurs are seeking to address this with their widely publicized interest in Gallagher, but he is not the only Premier League midfielder on their radar.
